Some highlights of the proposed new features :
HDMI Ethernet Channel – This will allow for ability to send and receive 100 Mb/sec of data straight over HDMI. This is great as it simplifies connections reducing the need for additional cabling.
Audio return Channel – Not as cool as the ability to receive data at 100Mb/sec, but [...]
What kind of gaming PC can you build for $600? Actually a pretty good one that will offer similar performance to much more expensive machines costing $4-500 more if you are willing to overclock just a little bit. Toms Hardware has a write up on how they built one for $600 and compared it’s performance [...]
Over in the HardOCP forums, a user stumbled upon a technique for bringing some dead or dying graphics cards back to life. In his particular case, his 8800 GTX suffered from artifacts and random crashing. The fix is to strip everything off the card (cooler, screws, etc) and using wadded up aluminum [...]
So I know that this is not computer related, but having professionally roadraced motorcycles for 7 years, I am still a huge fan and when I see something cool like this, I feel I should post something.
So MotoCzysz originally aimed his sights several years ago about building an American MotoGP bike. In case you are [...]
Anandtech has a review on the MSI X58M – Mighty Mouse. If you are in the market for a Intel core i7 based computer, you may have realized that well featured x58 motherboards are expensive. But instead of the typical $250, MSI has a $169 uATX solution that is barely stripped down at all, overclocks [...]
[H]ardOCP has a interesting read on how cpu cores and frequency scaling impacts gaming when using multi card gpu solutions. Pretty good read and informative as always from Kyle and the gang at HardOCP. Read it here.
Corsair just released the Ice T30 sub-ambient cooling for Dominator GT ram. Sure it is $200 and the pimping Dominator GT costs $500 for 6GB of the stuff running at 2000mhz, so insanely overpriced for what essentially will be just a slight performance increase. Still….the hardcore overclocking persona living deep in my soul still drools [...]
Popped on my Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 on my Gigabyte HD 4890 as I had grown tired of the annoying fan whine that came from it. Mini review can be found here.
Yes, you read that right, a review on some water guns testing range, optimum soaking distance, etc.. Totally not computer related, but hilarious none the less, so I thought I would link it. Check it out here.
Anandtech has one of it’s quarterly article on building a budget PC. It is worth a look if you are considering a do it yourself build and need some ideas. Read about it here.
Couple things to note, I personally would steer clear of the $500 build unless you need a barebones PC as going that [...]
